Stats & Budget$

Hey y’all! I spent an exciting time in Europe and I’ve gotten a lot of questions on a few things. No, I will not tell you what my favorite country was, because that is the hardest question to answer. I didn’t spend enough time in each to give them all a fair shake, and sometimes I was just in a bad mood. Quit asking me that. Ask more specific questions, like what was my favorite art museum (Musee d’Orsey), or what was my favorite weird meat that I tried (ostrich). I am happy to answer all questions.

To the point… I’ve collected a few stats that I thought I might share with you.

Now everyone seems to want to know how much money I spent. Before I get into that, I would like to say that I did graduate a semester early in order to use my tuition money to fund this trip. Of course that didn’t cover everything, because 99 days in Europe gets expensive, so shout out to the minimum wage jobs where I’ve had to scrubs toilets, deal with small children, and serve pizzas. Thanks a million- couldn’t have done it without you.

MONEY BREAKDOWN:

$8,559 = total amount spent.

and here’s how:

$1,065 = flight

$1,336 = Eurail

$197.96 = clothing purchased

$1,352.40 = entertainment (anything that cost admission price, whether a museum entry, tipping a tour guide, etc.)

$1,801.24 = food

$26.83 = health (from cough drops, to eye drops)

$680.20 = hostels (I stayed with lots of friends, which helped to keep this cost low)

$1,066.34 = souvenirs (postcards, pins, and jewelry add up)

$144.04 = stamps (you’re welcome if you got a postcard 🙂 )

$1.04 = toilet (used ONCE- an emergency. Damn Budapest can’t find a free place to pee when you need one.)

$828.43 = transportation (but, you have a Eurail, Michaella. Ah yes, but I didn’t account for the buses and metro…)

$58.16 = “bullshit” aka – the time I got fined.
