Cappy in Brazil

My first friend came to visit me in Brazil! I was so happy to host Cappy for 2 weeks in my humble home, with a trip to Pirenopolis as well!

I’m learning some highlights to make sure I bring visitors to, so come on over- I’ve got an itinerary for you. 🙂

We went to the Pontao, Santuario Dom Bosco, had a Christmas party to meet all my friends, the TV Tower/ hippie market, and the choro do eixao to listen to music… all in the first weekend!

Fast forward to the next weekend, we went to Pirenopolis! We rented a house with Robin and Priya and it was amazing- the house had 5 bedrooms, air conditioning, a fully fenced in yard for Kya, a pool, an churrasco area, and an outdoor kitchen. Piri is only about 2 hours away, so I think we might be seeing more of this house.

We kicked off our visit with brunch at the Santuario Vagafogo- the best brunch in Brazil. Everything is made at the farm, including the honey and the yogurt, and it is a 14 course meal. Then we headed to the Cachoiera Bomsucceso, where Cappy got her first taste of Brazilian waterfalls. We swam, we hiked, it was hot and glorious. A Brazilian waterfall is usually freezing cold, but you work to get to it, so it feels good if not breathtaking at first. I’ve gotten Cappy hooked on Acai, so we also made a pit stop for a sweet treat before heading back for our churrasco night at the house!

Our second day was spent chillin by the pool with a walk around the old town of Piri to do a little bit of shopping. Good thing Kya was around to watch over the fort. 😉 In the photo on the left you can see a hot air balloon making it’s way around town.

Our waterfall finale was to Abade- this beautiful monster above. There are 5 waterfalls leading up to the big one, and we had a nice walk in the woods. We also saw a couple marmoset’s (monkey looking creatures) jumping around in the trees!

A lot of the fun Cappy and I had together wasn’t anything really blog worthy. We played games, chatted, caught up with life, watched some Brooklyn 99, shopped a little, ate lots of food, and generally just enjoyed hanging out together. I’m glad I was able to show her some of why I love Brazil and have her try some unique foods too.

Thanks for coming Cappy! I love you and can’t wait to see you again soon!
