If I let the weather determine what I did on this trip, I would never be doing anything. Today is has rained the entire day. The only moment of dryness was when I was on the bus, en route to Lake Bled. As soon as I got there, boom- rain city.
Bled is a very tiny town in Slovenia. I took a day trip from Ljubljana and was planning on spending all day here. Bled, however, I discovered is what I lovingly refer to as a “nice weather city.” What I mean by this, is there is nothing to do when it rains. Yes, there are cafes, but you can eat anywhere. However, if I had come during a nice day, I could have rented a boat and paddled out to the little church on the island. Being tough, I was still determined to do this. However, none of the local businesses wanted this to happen- everything was closed. No boats for Michaella. That was okay. I still walked around the majority of the lake, it’s not that big.
At this point, I was soaked. Yes, I was wearing a raincoat. But believe me, you can still get wet with a raincoat. I decided to have a snack with a view, and ordered a Chai Tea Latte (my favorite!!) And also enjoyed a Preseren Cake. It was delicious. Biscuit, vanilla Creme Brulee, hazelnut creme, nutmeg, cinnamon, and peper. Yum.
Here I also took my time and read a chapter of my book. I just wanted to dry off a little. After this I tried to find something else to do, got kind of lost, and decided to head back “home.” Lake Bled would have been lovely to sit and feed the ducks and do fun water activities, which they have plenty of, however, it was a rainy day. Things happen. It didn’t stop me from going.
I quite enjoyed the swans though… as long as they kept their distance. I see you, you sneaky swans you.
As a bonus for reading me complain, here is a picture of me and my true love- Michaella + Swan 4ever.
