Bonjour! I have made it to Aix en Provence to spend time, and conveniently the Easter weekend, with my cousin Teresa!!! I couldn’t be happier to be reunited. We are all like adult like now and everything. She is studying abroad for a year in France, and I’m glad it worked out to visit her.
We took a day trip to Marseille. Basically we walked for about 4 hours straight in search of thrift shops, found one vintage store and called it a day. But during this time, we saw some AWESOME stuff, and overall had a grand ol’ time.
This is some street mosaic work in a really cool area of Marseille. The people were out in the sunshine, and we just took it all in. We also ate an entire boat of strawberries… each… for lunch from a market. Yes I will definitely take those for 1 euro and then eat all of them. The pigeons kept stalking us because they thought we would feed them. Not quite little pigeons.
Ah- the seafront. The old port is really beautiful, and bustling with life. Aside from the views from the train (I had a 13 hour train ride from Rome…) this was the first time I saw the Mediteranean sea. The water is SO blue. Teresa and I sat on the side and just enjoyed the beauty and the people. Also talked nonstop. It’s been awesome to be able to catch up. We haven’t actually seen each other in like 2 years, so we have a lot to fill each other in on.
We found soap that stamps a unicorn onto the bar. Super hipster.
Yes, I am trying to lok awkward in this picture. (Seen in her natural habitat, we spot a Michaella, acting normal.)
We both needed a toilet badly, so we stumbled into the Museum. I don’t actually know what this museum was for. And we might have gone through the exit. We didn’t pay anything, but we also didn’t really go into any museum type places, so I think it was ok. Well, not only did we find a toilet, BUT there was free wifi. To top it off, it was in a castle/ fortress/ protective wall thing on top of a mountain, and it had a gorgeous view of the sea. Marseille- your toilet game is on point.
A view of the port. Teresa and I had such a swell time.
Happy Easter!
