I JUMPED OFF A BUILDING! (say this in a Baymax voice- like in Big Hero 6.)
In Berlin, I found an opportunity to go base flying from 39 floors up in the Park Inn right across from the TV Tower in Alexanderplatz. Oh, did you say student discount? Yeah- I think I’ve turnd into an adrenalne junkie, but that’s beside the point.
This is me “practising” how I will go down.
I found this company, and booked immediately. I went for my appointment and was bummed to find out that it was too windy and I couldn’t jump. This made sense in hindsight, otherwise I would go splat on the building, but I was bummed. Luckily, the weather was in my favor the next day so I still got to have the experience!
This is me goofy to hide my terror.
On the ascent, you take an elevator and then you have to climb more stairs. But they have painted funny things on the stairs. /\ Chuck Norris. \/ Average Joe. Etc. It made me feel like a badass.
Base Flying = being strapped in and let go on the side of a building. You get the sensation of freefall.
The cameraman caught this right after I looked over the edge for the first time. Classic.
Thoughts in my head: HOLY %(&#)&%^&@)(7@%*%(#*%6$). I’M SO HIGH UP.
And then-
CUZ I’M FREE- FREE FALLIN.
It was so quick, but so awesome. I loved it.
Look Mom and Dad! I’m alive!
When I got down my hands were shaking and my heart was going crazy. As you can imagine, your body senses you falling off of a building and all. It was way cool.
Here’s the video… It’s really awkward. And turn your sound down because I screammmmm.
